Every minute the water runs is more drywall, more flooring, more subfloor. Nothing on this page matters more than the next ninety seconds — find the right valve, close it, then call. If you cannot find it, call anyway and we will walk you through it on the phone.
Flooding anywhere
The main shutoff
Usually on the street side of the house, near the hose bib or in a box at the sidewalk. Turn it clockwise until it stops. That kills water to the whole house.
Stiff from never being used? Two hands, steady pressure — do not lever it with a pipe, the old ones snap.
One fixture only
The angle stop
The small oval-handled valve on the wall behind a toilet or under a sink. Clockwise until it stops. The rest of the house keeps its water.
Overflowing toilet: you can also lift the tank lid and push the flapper down by hand to stop the fill.
Leaking water heater
Cold inlet, then gas
Close the cold inlet valve on top of the tank, then turn the gas control knob to OFF — or the breaker off on an electric unit. Do not drain it yet.
A leaking tank is a replacement, not a repair. More on water heaters.
Smell gas? Leave first
Do not flip switches. Get everyone out, then call SDG&E at 800-411-7343 from outside. That one is theirs, not ours.
Water near outlets
If water is reaching outlets, panels, or a ceiling light, kill that circuit at the breaker before you walk through it.
Sewage backing up
Stop running water anywhere — no sinks, no laundry, no flushing. Every gallon you send down has nowhere to go but your floor.

Nothing from any tap. Usually a main line break, a failed pressure regulator, or a closed valve nobody touched.
Overflowing toilets
The only bathroom in the house, and it will not stop. Close the angle stop behind it, then call us.
Water heater failures
Tank split, no hot water, or water spreading across the garage floor. Often a same-day swap.
Not sure whether it is an emergency? The test is simple: is water going somewhere it should not, or has water stopped going somewhere it should? Either one, call. We would rather tell you it can wait until Tuesday than have you find out it could not.

A burst pipe is two jobs. Stopping the water is the first one, and every plumber in the county does it. The second is the open wall, the ruined baseboard, the swollen floor and the ceiling stain — and that is usually where you get handed a card for someone else.
Our licence covers general building as well as plumbing, so the same company that fixes the pipe puts the house back: framing, drywall, texture, flooring and paint. One quote, one invoice, one number to call when something is not right.
Up the mountain
Frozen and burst pipes in Big Bear
Big Bear plumbing fails differently to San Diego plumbing. Up there it is cold, and the classic call is a cabin nobody has opened since Thanksgiving with a supply line that let go in January — found weeks later, by which point the water has been running the whole time.
We work Big Bear regularly, so we know the pattern: burst lines replaced rather than patched, the system pressure-tested before we leave, and insulation or heat tape wherever the same run keeps failing. If you rent the place out, we can also winterise it properly before you close it up for the season — the cheapest repair you will ever pay for.

What should I do before you arrive?
Shut the water off. For a burst pipe or a flood, close the main shutoff on the street side of the house. For one fixture, close the angle stop under it. For a leaking water heater, close the cold inlet on top of the tank and turn the gas control off. Then call or text and we will talk you through the rest.
What does an emergency call cost?
A flat diagnostic fee, quoted on the phone before we come out, and credited against the work if you hire us for the repair. The repair itself is quoted before we start it — no hourly meter running while you watch.
Do you serve Chula Vista and the South Bay?
Yes — we are based in Chula Vista, so the South Bay is home turf and gets us fastest: Chula Vista, Bonita, National City, Imperial Beach, San Ysidro and Otay Mesa. We also cover the City of San Diego, East County and Big Bear.
Is a slab leak an emergency?
If you have hot spots on the floor, the sound of running water with everything off, or a water bill that jumped for no reason, it needs looking at now. A slab leak will not flood the house in an hour, but it undermines the slab and rots flooring the entire time it runs.
My toilet is overflowing and will not stop.
Turn the angle stop behind it clockwise until it stops, or lift the tank lid and push the flapper down by hand. If other drains are gurgling or backing up at the same time, stop using water anywhere in the house — that pattern means the main line, not the toilet.
Can you repair the water damage too?
Yes, and that is the part most plumbers hand off. Our licence also covers general building work, so the same company repairs the framing, drywall, texture, flooring and paint once the plumbing is fixed. One contractor, one invoice.
Do you handle frozen pipes in Big Bear?
Yes. We work up there regularly and frozen supply lines are the winter call. If you own a cabin you do not visit often, the damage is usually found weeks late — a shutoff and a drain before you close it up for the season is the cheapest repair you will ever make.
